Custom Data-types

Besides the predefined datatypes that suit general UML modeling, it is possible to add your own languages and types. By doing this, you can reuse the type you defined when selecting a type for attribute and operation.

Steps

  1. Select Tools > Options from the main menu. This shows the Options dialog box.
  2. Open the Data Type page.

  3. Select the language that you are using, or, add a new language.

  4. Press Add... to add a new datatype.

  5. Enter the name and press OK.

  6. Close the Options dialog box.

Using the Customized Datatype

Let’s take specifying datatype for an attribute as an example.

  1. Right-click on an attribute and select Open Specification from the pop-up menu.

  2. Press on the Type drop-down menu.
  3. Select the type you defined.

  4. Close the specification dialog box.
