Upgrading Your Tool with the Upgrade Key

As Visual Paradigm aims at providing quality products to our users, the usability of the CASE tools are improved from time-to-time. For each version upgrade, Visual Paradigm will send you an upgrade key to upgrade the software if it is under maintenance. Here is an example showing you how to upgrade the license key of Visual Paradigm for UML (VP-UML) from version 5.0 to 5.1.

1. Remove all existing license key
   • By using the License Key Manager
   • By removing the License Key Repository directory

2. Restart VP-UML. The License Key Manager dialog box shows.
   
   
   
3. Click Import license key icon to activate the Import License Key dialog box.
   
   
   
4. Select the original key (i.e., the license key for VP-UML 5.0), and click Import.
   
   
   The license key for VP-UML 5.0 is successfully imported and shown on the License Key Manager.
   
   
   
5. Click Import license key icon to open the Import License Key dialog box.
   
   
   
6. Select the upgrade key (i.e., the upgrade key for VP-UML 5.1), and click Import.
   
   
   The upgrade key is imported successfully and the version shown on the License Key Manager is updated to 5.1 automatically.
